Handy Person Service

Barnet Handy Person Service is a local scheme to support independence at home for older people

What is the service?

The Barnet Handy Person Service is a multi-agency project, which is being coordinated by AgeUK . The aim of the scheme is to provide a practical service to older people, by facilitating minor repairs to their homes. There will be a charge for materials needed for the repair, but there will be no charge for the Handyperson’s time.

Who is eligible for referral?

The client must be over the age of 55; They must live in the Borough of Barnet.

In what areas will we provide assistance ?

Maintain and promote independent living enabling people to remain in their own homes.

What sort of jobs can the Handyperson Service cover?

The Handy Person can only carry out small repairs. If the work requires a skilled tradesperson, such as a plumber or electrician, they will not be able to undertake the work, but will try to put you in touch with a reputable tradesperson.If you need an Occupational Therapy assessment, this is not the scheme for you. What are the charges?

There will be NO charge for the Handy Person's work time.The scheme is NOT MEANS TESTED, The only cost will be for the necessary materials required for the job requested. The client can arrange the purchase of the materials themselves, or the Handy Person will purchase the materials, but the cost will still be borne by the client.

Who can access the scheme
